The Spanish AWPer claims the first Most Valuable Player medal in his career after leading ENCE to the IEM Dallas title.
Álvaro "SunPayus" García has been named the HLTV x 1xBet MVP of IEM Dallas moments after his team beat MOUZ in a one-sided grand final affair and secured the $100,000 first-place prize.
The Spaniard, who has now become the first-ever player from his country to earn an HLTV MVP, was an ever-present force throughout ENCE's run to this core's first Big Event title, which also featured victories over FaZe on two occasions, Astralis, and Complexity.
A true difference-maker for the winning side, SunPayus recorded 1.15+ ratings in every single one of their map wins, put up key performances in narrow affairs against Astralis and FaZe, and was ENCE's highest-rated player in all but one of their five matches.
SunPayus made it to several event leaderboards with a 1.27 overall rating in 11 maps (#2), 0.79 kills per round (#5), 0.54 deaths per round (#3), 0.46 AWP kills per round (#1), and 1.30 impact rating (#4).
His biggest rival to the award was his grand final opponent David "frozen" Čerňanský, who boasted a similarly impressive resumé leading up to the grand final and went on to play up to par with those standards in the title decider, which is sure to earn him the top Exceptionally Valuable Player nod.
